Craig and I have made a pact to make some changes to our diets and lifestyle this year. I’d like to lose a few (or 30) pounds this year and Craig would like to put on more muscle. I lost all of my pregnancy weight long ago, but have yet to tone up and lose all of the sag in my tummy, so many hours on the elliptical and doing crunches are in my future.
Tomorrow we’re heading to the YMCA to check out the price of memberships there (including swimming lessons for Emily!) and then we’re hoping to get to the gym 3 or 4 times a week to work out and then enjoy some family swim time with Em.
I’d also like to start a new diet, but I’m unsure where to start? I’ve heard good things about weight watchers and about the biggest loser diet, but I want to make sure it’s something that changes our eating habits so that I’m not counting calories or points for the rest of my life. I want to start a pantry challenge as well in our home, with our only purchases being produce and milk, and as well to avoid eating out for the rest of January.
Expect posts in the future about the tasty (hopefully?) meals we’re creating from the pantry, as well as updates about the money we’re saving.
Goals for 2010:
-Lose 30lbs by may 24 weekend (memorial day in the US I believe). That’s about 1.5 lbs per week.
-Fit back in to size 6 clothing. Size 4 would be fabulous but I’ll be happy with a 6. I’m currently around an 8 or 10 mostly so it’s not too far off.
-Be able to run 5km without DYING
Current weight: 155
Goal weight: 125
No ‘before’ photo for the moment, but I’ll probably get Craig to take one and if I’m feeling good about the changes at the end or mid way through I may post it.
So, any tips, recipes, or exercises you swear by? I’d like to jumpstart this weight loss to motivate myself.
