Once again this year, I’m feeling glad Christmas is over. Isn’t that awful? I was glad to see everyone and spend time with family, but had 5 Christmas dinners from the 24th to the 28th, and barely had a chance to appreciate them. I’m ready to start the new year off with a month of salads after all of that turkey dinner (with some much appreciated roast beef in there for a change of scenery), and I have a few pounds to lose after all of my holiday snacking.
I’ve been a bit of a slacker at blogging lately, so I figured I would give a run down of our adventures since Craig has been home.
As I mentioned last time, we were supposed to go on a mini vacation to Niagara Falls, however blizzards and road closures pushed those plans back by a week. In the mean time, we went to Medieval Times with one of Craig’s friends, with our little lady in tow. I had forgotten how loud the performance is, and just after it started realized I would probably be missing a lot of the show calming an overstimulated baby. But that never happened. Emily LOVED the show, and every time there was something loud and exciting she would squeal and coo.
This is the only photo of the night and I look like a complete idiot.
Next we had our first family Christmas get together with Craig’s Mom’s family. It was nice to see everyone in one place to save us more travelling during the holidays.
The following week we finally got away on our vacation, and on the way down I got to stop in on this lovely lady. Emily had her first pool experience and her first trip out of the country while we were there.
The next morning we did a long day of Christmas shopping over the border, and finally headed back to Canada to enjoy a teppan yaki dinner. It’s the kind where the japanese chef stands in the middle of the table with a grill and makes all of your food in front of you. Emily loved all of the tricks and the flaming food!
On our way home from Niagara Falls we stopped in at the Vaughan Mills mall and Emily got her first mobbed mall experience. We didn’t spend a lot of time there because of all of the people, but we did make sure she got a picture on the 4 wheelers at the Bass Pro store.
Since we got back from vacation on the 22nd, we have been swamped with christmas dinners. Here’s a small schedule:
24: dinner with family & church
25: turkey dinner with family
26: turkey dinner with family
27: roast beef dinner with family
28: roast beef lunch with family
31: new years eve festivities with our small group
1: brunch with family and friends
We travelled every single day between the 25th and 28th, and needless to say all of that car napping has really thrown off Emily’s schedule. She isn’t going to bed until 11 or 12 at night and doesn’t want to get up before 10 am. I’m a night owl, but I’d still like some baby free time in the evening! Hopefully now that we’re back home (with our last christmas get together with family this weekend) hopefully we’ll get back on schedule!
Here are just some shots of Emily at Christmas:
Now that we’re home, we’re all a little tuckered out!
Be back soon!
