black forest cake

IMG_0372

I haven’t posted any recipes for a while, but don’t think I haven’t been getting back into the groove and cooking up a storm in our little galley kitchen.  March has been a bit difficult for menu planning as I don’t have a vehicle right now, so grocery shopping is limited to when the husband is home and usually is done impromptu.

Below is my recipe for THE easiest cake EVER.

Black Forest Cake

Ingredients

Chocolate cake mix
4 eggs
Cherry Pie Filling

Instructions

1. Beat 4 eggs in medium bowl then add in cake mix and mix together well.  It will be pretty stiff/dry, but try and incorporate the two as best you can.

2.  Fold in the pie filling until well distributed.

3.  Bake according to the mix instructions.  I did it in a 9x13 pan but you can even us a bundt pan (prettiest option).

4.  If desired, once the cake is cooked and slightly cooled, mix and drizzle the following over top and decorate with maraschino cherries:

1 cup icing (powdered) sugar
1 Tbsp melted butter
Add milk until runny enough to pour.

Enjoy!

Makes: 24 servings

Weight Watchers points: 3-4 (depending if glaze is used or not)
